Stimulation of the senses is heightened on Mackinac.

Currently, the smell of lilacs fills the air...along with horse manure and urine.... which are omnipresent  :)

Sounds of water lapping on the shore of Lake Huron in front of the cottage; sea gulls squawking; light house horn protecting us when foggy; horses clopping to and fro and horns from boats/freighters both small and long (1,000 feet).

Visually there is nothing to compare....  Flowers today for you!

My attempt at macro photography.  This is a lilac.

Lilly of the valley in macro.

Iris

Irises

Giant peony,  Others are just now opening.

Geraniums at Cable Cottage

Bouquet used for a reception I attended.

And the prettiest picture of all, my Winnie dozing in a window sill.

Lilac Time!

It won't reach 70 degrees this week which thrills this Yankee girl!  I arrived at the end of the 71st Lilac Festival; so named because Lilac trees and bushes of all colors are prolific here.  These sunny days are going to allow them to burst into full bloom.
Thanks to Clark Bloswick for allowing me to share this photo of horse and lilacs.

A highlight of the parade is the Scottville Clown  Band.  The group includes trained musicians who dress ridiculously and entertain the crowds with their music, costumes and movements.

The Native American influence is big on Mackinac Island.

And then just some miscellaneous shots....

A precious butterfly in the parade.

Not a lilac bush.  Thinking it might be a cherry tree?

Straps holding up this very old Lilac tree.

Comfortably cool on Mackinac Island.  Goosebumps!  Haven't had them in a long time. Pictured is  the Mackinac Bridge build 1957 or 1958.  It connects the lower Peninsula of Michigan with the upper Peninsula of Michigan...Mackinaw City with St. Ignace. I prefer to cross the bridge to St. Ignace and catch the 15-minute ferry ride to the Island.

Pictured below are my two traveling companions, Winnie Pearl, the cat, and John Jeffrey, the son.  Lots of pretty pictures to share in the coming weeks, but starting slowly to make certain I know what I am doing.

Summer 2019

Adding a second name to this: Chatter Matters.  If I were smarter about all of this, I would simply change it to CHATTER MATTERS!  I miss writing.  Discovered there is no novel lurking inside me.  Simply just observations, thoughts and stuff that intrigue me and which I would like to share.  Come along with me if you like...

First off, I head for the great chilly north shortly.  Seems to me that nothing is easy anymore.  Big storm! Big limb (most likely not really as big as I think it is) Big clunk on my 1980's garage.  Thank goodness my car was not inside.

In all things, there is good!  Winnie, the love of my life, is grateful for her new garage-top view of the world.
